In november 2006, Japan's Kansai University founded the Japan-EU Research Center at its sister institution, the Catholic University of Leuven. The Center is tasked with the active promotion of Japanese culture in Belgium in general, and the support and promotion of Japanese Studies in particular. Our first major project was the organisation of the Japan Week, a cultural and educational event that took place in the city of Leuven from March 10 to March 13, 2008.
